Im looking to buy a small 3 seat van with fairly good pulling power for my 1/2 ton braked trailer which I use occasionaly.

I looked at partner & berlingo but only 09 new model has 3 front seats... the berlingo 1.6 hdi 90bhp looks good but slightly out of my price range which is 3- 4k.

If I got a berlingo 1.6hdi 75bhp(bit cheaper) could I get this "chipped" to increace pulling power..

Any other ideas would be appreciated !

    What about the pug expert?

How about the Fiat Scudo/Citroen Dispatch/Peugeot Expert? All pretty much the same van, a little bigger than a Berlingo but they are available in 2.0 litre which would have a bit more grunt for towing I'd imagine.

I don't think you are going to find what you want as generally small vans not designed for that.

As suggested the pug/Citroen job.Not a lot bigger to drive than the berlingo/caddy vans.
Good 110bhp 2.0Hdi engine that's reliable & not too bad on juice
New berlingo may have 3 seats but you wouldn't want to be going far with 3 people in it.

Bazz26 has the right idea. Same engine as the entry level, considerably bigger Citroen Relay/Peugeot Partner/(iirc Fiat used their own engines in the Ducato) So pulling power aplenty. Easy to drive and easy to judge. If you do go that way though, just make sure theyve had a timing belt done. Not sure if its the Citroen/Peugeot or the Fiat, but one of them is one of the most ignorant ****ers youll ever change a belt on...
