Thinking about selling my Vectra 2.8 24v V6 Turbo estate.

    As per title,

I am Thinking about selling my 2007 Vectra 2.8 24v V6 Turbo (255bhp) estate which I imported it from the UK.

When the time comes ( in a couple of months) I am wondering if it would be best to try and sell it in the UK or in Ireland?
Not sure if there are any petrol heads here who I could 'offload' the car to. The car its self is not in bad shape, its just that the tax is €1400 per year and I don't think I would get much more than that for the car.

    Any thoughts?

sorry, I have no photos yet but it is very similar to the VXR:

    http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201211144232649/sort/default/usedcars/colour/black/engine-size-cars/2-6l_to_2-9l/body-type/estate/model/vectra/make/vauxhall/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/page/1/radius/1500/postcode/ct155jp?logcode=p

The main differences are the VXR the exhausts are visible and it has a rear spoiler etc where mind does not.
They share the same engine auto gearbox etc. mine has a full leather interior.

I have no idea what I would get for it? There are a couple of small electrical issues: Built in Sat Nav is not working, but the rest of the onboard computer is fine - might need a new CD? The alarm shows an error and teh electronic tailgate does nto close it's self. Apart from that all is well - the engine is very good and it only has 87k miles on it.
I paid £4k GBP for it 2 years back.

Might be more salable in the UK. Plus you should look into a VRT refund too.

I paid no VRT as I exempt from payment when I moved back from the UK.

Nice car. What's it like to drive?

Have to admit though, those interiors do nothing for me.

I'd imagine it would near on impossible to sell a car like that here, the high motor tax, insurance, etc. would make it unappealing to the masses here. Better chance of selling it up North or across the Irish Sea imo.

Unless it has a full service history is doubt it'll be worth much across the sea

There is a market out there. You just need a little patience. I just sold my 06 535D within a week on DD. Had plenty of genuine calls so the tax wasn't really an issue.

As always a lot will depend on the condition, mileage and to a lesser extent service history.

In all fairness a 2.8 litre petrol Vectra is a totally different market to a 535d in this country. Different ends of the spectrum around desirability, it's not just about motor tax.

There's a market for everything if the price is right and you're not in a rush to sell.
