Why, what happens when you put it up to lovespuds?

I still can't believe it was apparently once somewhat iconic, relevant and boundary pushing.

The last time I watched it it censored words like ass and crap :pac:

I'm a single man with no children so I haven't watched MTV since around 1999.

It's become so crap full of reality shit that they recently launched an "MTV:Music" channel

Well done dickheads, you do know the M in MTV stands for music don't you? cunts

Like I've said elsewhere on boards before. MTV and the history channel should be done under the trade descriptions act.

What were you watching that finally made you realise this?

I don't know why everyone hates that it no longer plays music videos. If you watch the uk charts on it, you better stay away from sharp objects as a majority of the shops are ****(the uk taste in music is horrible). If you want to watch a music video there is YouTube.

MTV uk is ****. They play a few new shows but mostly reruns. But in MTV Germany they make decent reality shows. Live performances from new bands and its pretty good. MTV uk needs to up its game

What I liked about MTV was that they had certain shows dedicated to music I liked. But I agree, things have changed and there's YouTube for that.

I recall them even censoring a cigar and subsequent rising smoke from some rapper's hand.

I'm taking a guess at teen mom or whatever they are called.. Though one of them took a shot at being a porn star.. It might come to a MTV near you :P

MTV died the day Ray Cokes left.

What happened to the history channel? Started talking about plants?

Same with the Discovery Channel. Excellent and thought provoking documentaries on all sorts of subjects have been replaced by mind numbingly inane 'reality TV' rubbish. What happened?

Yes, abotu 20 years ago when they stopped being a music channel...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Haven't watched it since the early 90s.

Occasionally flick through it, grimace, and move on with alacrity.

I seem to recall that one myself. They must have been terrified that it was a blunt.

Remember all the controversial antics that the media would report happening at their VMA's, which were then completely airbrushed from the time delayed broadcasts of the awards show? Unbelievable. I don't know about back in the day but in my time MTV was about as edgy and controversial as a Daniel O'Donnell gig. I am nearly certain they had an Unedited Videos show late night that, rather than showing actual unedited videos, merely showed edited videos of tunes they would never broadcast during the daytime like Smack My Bitch Up.

Incidentally, as a US cable channel can't they have as much effing and blinding as they please, just as HBO does? (never mind in most of Europe where they can have it regardless but tend not to do so)
