Anyone who is keeping track on Boards.ie will know I am very interested in shooting Deer next season, and did so over 30 odd years ago but things have changed since then, in the way safety and courses have been introduced, I am taking a year to get the right Gun meaning I could buy in a Month or July next year, am I right in saying I need a Hcap course if shooting Coillte lands and don't if I have rights to shoot Farmers Land or owners land. Also may I say I worked in a Butchers that my Brother owns which he still has and I know how to split a carcass, I have access to four units he has to hang a deer so can you advise me am I going in the right direction.

Even though you have past experience, your best bet is to get out this season with other stammered so you can refresh you memories and skills.

Otherwise I think you course of action is better taught out then some I know who have rushed into stalking with out a single consideration.
