    Hi Guys

Been using 3 screens lately on the new build and to be honest I actually prefer to use 1 x 40inch monitor over 3x 24inch even though they are High res IPS.

What sort of monitor setup are you guys running and prefer?

For gaming I'd go with a bigger single monitor but for everything else two or more is the business.

one ips 1440p 27" monitor with a 22" as my secondary. Wouldn't downgrade to a single monitor ever, but it depends on your usage.
For gaming I'd choose one 24" monitor though.

I have to agree I actually prefer 1 large screen over 3, as personally the whole surround gaming experience I just don't believe is really worth it.

Do you believe the IPS are worth the extra cost?

After using 3 28" screens in eyefinity I cant go back to single screen games. Its so much better. Especially when you wrap them around so the two other screens fit into your peripheral vision and it really does give more immersion as when I sit in front of them all i see is the screens.

As a graphic designer absolutely. If you need accurate colour reproduction at all then really an IPS is your only choice. Terrible for competitive gaming, probably nice for normal games.

Very interesting, So if you have an option of 1 x 24 ips or 1x 40inch LED what would you go for?

Depends on how far away you intend to sit from the screen. 27 inch is the highest I'd go at a desk. I had the pleasure of experiencing a 30 inch Apple monitor, lovely screen but way too big for normal use.

    I just have standard 28" hanns-spree 1920*1200 montiors.

I find since I used to work on a 46inch screen, using these small IPS are tough to get used to, I think I need to revert back to my old setup.

even though the IPS are nice screen and clarity is good,I personally don't see a Hugh difference compared to the TV I had in my previous setup, check it out, Link

Likewise, I dabbled a bit with multi-monitor setup and I went back to just a single 27" Yamakasi 2560x1440.
I find using the single high-res monitor a better option for regular use.

What I really like doing, however, is using a Monitor/TV setup using Windows "Extended Display" option.
The TV is a few metres away from the PC but I find it very handy for running XBMC on the TV while doing regular PC stuff.
The XBMC smartphone app (for controlling XBMC) is excellent too, btw

Completely agree with you there, I also am a Hugh fan of the Monitor/TV setup. My biggest problems with the three screen setup is the bevel on the monitors, don't like it at all, I find it throw me off course when gaming sometimes.

    3 x 27" 120hz S27A950D's in surround, I sit about 600mm from the centre screen.

Same as deceit, I could never go back to single screen-feels like I'm playing with blinkers on.

The first thing I do when I see a new title I want to play is to scour the net to find out if it is multi monitor compatible.:)

Currently on 2x20" Dell LCDs, but would like to change to 3x24". My desk wouldn't support much more than this, and for development, multiple separate screens makes more sense than on big one, e.g. dev environment on one screen, application being debugged on another. Even then I'm flipping between apps a fair bit, and hence would like a third screen, and VS2010 gets cluttered even all by its lonesome on one screen.

Not big into games in recent years, which is just as well, as I'd get feck all work done if I went back down that road. A three screen immersive set-up does sound brilliant for FPS though, must avoid temptation.....

A triple monitor stand would free up a lot of desktop space. There are some really good ones from XFX & Ergotech (€250>), or some more basic ones like this on amazon.
