SSD Replacement and Win7 Starter

So, I am looking at updating my SSD from a Samsung 120GB 840 Series to a Samsung 250GB 840 Series on my desktop and then putting the old SSD in my netbook.

I may copy everything from my old ssd onto the new one or might just do a fresh install of windows on it as I store all my important stuff on another HHD. But if I do decide to copy everything over is Norton Ghost the best option, or is there free software that is as good?

Secondly, as my netbook has no optical drive, it just came with Win7 starter installed. So if I put in the ssd I will have to download Win7 starter from somewhere and then us my serial code. Is there anywhere to download Win7 starter?

Or do you think I am as well upgrade to Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit seeing as its cheap now? (http://www.pcfritz.de/software/betriebssystem/windows-7-professional/10264/windows-7-professional-64-bit) or for a netbook is it better to stick to Win7 starter.

Its a Dell Inspiron Mini 1012, Intel Atom N450, 2GB Ram.

    Thanks

Ive used clonezilla booted from a usb key to clone ssd to ssd. Its free, basic GUI (so you arent typing in a command prompt to get things going) and seems to have worked fine!

I formated the new ssd first in windows - im not sure if this is essential

Guess Ill just clone the netbook drive to my external first then pop it all back on the ssd.

Does anyone know where I could download Win7 Starter for a usb boot? Is there any point in running it through Nlite to clear a few other useless bits off of it?

Im not sure, but i think the starter is an option on the N edition discs. SHould be an english download on this page somewhere

Sure give it a go and see if it gives you the option to install the starter edition

Used this, just to test, seems pretty good.

Ordered my SSD, found the disk for Win7 starter so just going to put it on a USB and install from that. That cloning program I got seems fine, will obviously copy to the other try, check it, then wipe it before I put it in the netbook. Still might do a clean install of Win7 on the desktop. Not too bothered bout getting my programs back, its just getting all my steam games downloaded again.

Going to go with a clean installation of Windows 7 on my desktop. Only have a few bits to back up as my main storage is a 1TB drive.

So, Ill take out my old SSD, hook up the new one. Should I disconnect my 1TB when I do this, just so Windows is installed to the right drive?

Once Windows is installed and I hook my 1TB back up, will windows see it straight away, I wont have to format it again for it to show up?

    Thanks.

mmmmm.....have a Win7 starter disc, made a .iso file from it with IsoCreater then tried to make a bootable usb with it using Windows7-USB-DVD-Download-Tool, but it wont load the .iso file.
