shogun problems

hi there

I bought total war shogun 2 from amazon,i installed the game went on to steam set up acc,everything went fine and I pressed p-lay game when all done,a prompt came up saying was downloading latest windows directx after this nothing happens game wont start,every time I go back to play same thing happens it does this download again and nothing

any help??

Then make sure Windows is up to date, then try this – verify game cache.

thanks for reply grizzly but did all that and no luck am reinstalling the game again and see if makes a difference,if a game looks for directx 9 and I hsve 11 on my computer it should run
