International Conflict, or IC as it's commonly known, is a Player vs Player tournament hailing from over seven successful years hosting the largest player v player tournament in Novalogic's Joint Operations.

    Who are we?
We're a group of players who play together in an army vs army tournament using a military-style structure including Generals, HCOs, CO/XOs and specific units.
IC started out in Novalogic's Joint Operations, and after creating a custom mod for the game, the Total International Conflict mod (or TIC for short), became the leading community within JO, bringing over a hundred players together on a weekly bases to battle it out over multiple maps in a massive team-orientated battle for over seven years.

We are a community of players who enjoy teamwork and structure. We are friends, veterans, programmers, police officers, students, fathers and even one metal band roady!
We're currently expanding from Joint Operations into ARMA3. For seven years, IC has been bringing over 100 players together weekly to battle it out in our tournaments. Being the leading community in a game for so long is an arduous task, and now we feel it's time to spread our wings and bring our unique style of gameplay to the ARMA community.

    What do we do?
We offer a Team v Team tournament, player vs player tournament.
Our tournament is broken down like this.
Each player is split into an army.
The army is assigned a General, and from there, the General will pick his/her units, officers and overall army theme (Name, Ranks, Uniforms, etc.)
The General will then set times and dates for specific training if needed, recon of the maps to be played on battleday and formulate their opening attack moves and plans for the battle. Given either pre-determined assets, or a limited budget to purchase their own assets, it's up to the General and his/her staff to defeat the other team with the players and assets under their control.
Each week, the two armies battle each other out during several hours of intense action.
Utilizing Teamspeak3 and a basic command structure, each army must work together to overcome their enemy and complete their map objective(s).

We try to offer our players a military-style battle each week, so after a long week of work or maybe after studying yourself into a meltdown, you can log in and go to war!

Now we're bringing our massive community and unique tournament style of play to the ARMA community and we want YOU!

If you're looking for some teamwork, some fun and something you (and your clan) could get involved in, then this is for you! We want players, map makers, script writers, clans, families, anything and everything.

Any questions feel free to ask!

*Note: I'm not sure if this goes against Rule 2 of the charter as this is a free-to-play community based tournament and not a commercial site.

Sorry? We're playing our own modified version some AAS-based mode. I think it originated over on PvPscene.org but am not sure as I don't handle the map making side of things.

Would it be TvT missions, where each team is assigned limited objectives, e.g. redfor defends a town against an assault by blufor? Or a map-spanning conquest?

Would you guys do a platoon/company sized actions, with limited/no AI support (which I am interested in)? Or larger battalion-sized actions with human-lead AI squads (not so interested in)?

There is no AI involved. This is purely Army v Army, 100% player controlled and driven. You are assigned to an army, then assigned to a unit and from there you're split further into squads if numbers require it. (Currently it's 16 v 16 signed up, so once you're split into squads that's as far as it'll go)
but at IC's height in Joint Operations, there were 200 players approx playing in the two armies.

At the moment, everything is being based around an Attack-and-Defend style map, over the vast area of Stratis. Both armies fight for control of the zone. If Team 1 captures it, they set up a defence and work from the now-captured zone to attack one of the enemy held bases in a linear fashion.

No ACE in ArmA 3 yet, though I believe ACRE has been ported over. Highly recommended. So is the ShackTac HUD as well for fireteam awareness.

I think ArmA servers can only really handle 100-120 players (least that was the case in ArmA2 and I've not seen anything to suggest otherwise for the full release).

Would you guys use limit the types of optics used/limit 3rd person? I kinda prefer when non-magnification weapons optics and only first person are allowed, makes it more tense and forces people to close the distance, rather than simply sitting back and plinking away at distant targets.

Would your group attempt to vary missions, such as doing having an under-strength platoon defending a well-fortified/urban location against a full-strength platoon with armour support?

How are you on the milsim spectrum? Is t full-bore high-discipline, doing stuff because £this is how the real military does it", or more "tactically 'authentic' but still about having fun" end?

well there is a lot of variables and i would wait for the full of release of arma3 to see what happens. Generally for games like that i would play with ppl i know rather as arma2 hacking is just so widespread can't really have any serious comp and arma3 well has yet to be determined but from what i saw in alpha it was worse than arma2. i'm waiting for full release to get back into arma3 proper and hope for a lot of things.

Hope you get the players and honorable ones at that.

AAS is Advance and Secure, its decent enough.

But what laviski said is correct, wouldnt be playing PVP in Arma 3 in its current state.

This is a beta campaign at the moment, so settings are constantly changing based on user feedback. Currently third person is off unless in a vehicle but this is likely to change based on user feedback to a full first person system.

There are no plans to have one team starting off in an unbalanced scenario against the other. Everything will be as 50/50 as possible. This may change in the future if the community wants it, but currently there are no plans.

Finally, this whole tournament is about having fun with friends while play with basic tactics and teamwork. Although quite a few are ex-military, we're not milsim nuts.

ACRE is currently not used. As ARMA is in beta, we've kept it as vanilla as possible. There are no restrictions on scopes in-game.

A decision has also just been made that allows clans of up to 5 players join and play together in the same army/unit.
