    Hi All,

Just a couple of quick questions. I've been looking at the MA in Social Work for a while now, and I know one of the requirements is at least 6 months in a social care environment.

Can someone give me a rough example of what they consider a social care environment?

Can someone who has done/applied for this masters tell me what their experience was before they applied?

    Thanks in advance!

I am currently studying for a Social Work degree in England and the 6 months experience they require could be working as a care assistant in a nursing home or hospital, nursery assistant, residenital work with either adults or chidlren and young people, or working in the community with families either in a statutory or voluntary setting either on a one to one basis or in a group. Think about what area you want to specialise in i.e. children or adults, mental health, homelessness or drug and alcohol just to name a few and try and get some voluntary work experience in that area.

    Hi all,
maybe this isnt the right thread (how do i start a new one) but what are the interesting options for masters after a degree in social care aside from social work?

To work as a Social Worker you have to undertake a degree or a Masters in Social Work as it is a protected title. Therefore undertaking a degree in social care will not allow you to work as a Social Worker.
