So AHers, I've called you all here to help me. Almost 72 hours ago I had a tooth decrowned and a nerve extracted. The pain in my face since then has been something severe.

I can't use strong painkillers so I've come to you looking for answers. What can I do to stop the pain and get some sleep?

Expensive magic water? Ancient chinese herbal tea? Some leaves chewed up by a native american and applied to the wound?

Get some cloves from shop and put them in your mouth around the gums.
Best painkiller for tooth pain I've ever tried!

Chop off your big toe. That should make you forget about the pain in your face even just momentarily.

At about 5am I was wondering if I should stab myself in the leg and then (hopefully) sleep like a baby for a few hours :D

Yeh but you might have hit a major arterty and then you could have woke up dead and that would be the worst friday ever.

I can relate - I get severe pains in my left eye at times, feels like it's about to burst... and I get thoughts of removing the damn eye just to get rid of the pain. :pac:

[Seeing an eye specialist to check it out in Sept.]

I had a horrible toothache years ago and went looking for Whiskey and Cotton Wool.

Neither could be found in the house. Next best thing was Sambuka. Thought it'd be the same but still no cotton wool.

My housemate suggested I just hold it in my mouth for a while (duuurty) and that would kill all pain. In my pain state I couldn't see anything wrong with this so carried on.

Nothing happened. No pain, no feeling nothing. My housemate seeing this said "no you have to swirl it" so I did and that’s when my mouth exploded. My eyes nearly popped out and as I tried to spit it out stopped me and said "no this means its working".

In a way it did as i didn't notice the tooth pain as the pain EVERYWHERE else in my mouth overrode any toothache

thoughts are with you and your family. I had the same thing about 10 years ago, worst pain I ever experienced. Try to go for a jog.

Do a lot of activity that rushes blood to your face. it will be extremely painful but if the blood stops rushing your face could be paralyzed.

Worst friday for me, best friday for Internet users the world over because if I wake up dead it means I've started the zombie apocalypse :)

So wait, are you saying he should do this, or he shouldn't do this? I'm confused.

    Try chewing tin foil

You could write a strongly worded letter to the dentist

This is the sole reason I decided to take up running.
    50% drool 50% blood

    Like homemade invisible ink?

I practiced Reiki a few years ago and the soles of your feet are the perfect place to stimulate nerve centres including those for pain. If you have a pair of wellingtons or old boots, mix a small jar of Sudocreme, a jar of Vicks Vaporub and a Litre of milk and pour into the boots. Wear for at least three to four hours, preferably walking around to massage the oils and calcium of milk into the pores of your feet.

    Works every time *

*Pssst, this will not work at all but if anyone sees the OP in wellies full of milk please take pic and post it here for shlts and giggles.

depends, if OP was a masochist and wanting to feel burning pain eminate through their mouth instead of having a sharp pain go for it

I got similar advice from the dentist. Something along the lines of 'if the pain becomes to much just set yourself on fire.'

I'm reporting this post for two reasons , firstly it made me laugh and spill tea and secondly the tea has nearly scalded the bollocks off me.

    Have you tried alcohol?
    I think drinking alcohol helps.

    Try some of that.

Rub a bit of Sudocream into your gum and tooth.

It cures everything. (According to my mammy)

    Thump tacks.

    Chew thump tacks, keelan.

They're a brilliant cure for any tooth related aches, you won't care about the ache at all afterwards.

Exactly. Obviously we wish you a speedy recovery, virtue of the thump tacks and don't wish arterial bleeding on you in any way, shape or form. :D

With a name like that I can assume you've felt what I'm feeling now.

You may also have problems reproducing due to laziness.

    Hi there
Has anyone ever shaken and gone into spasim when getting reiki?

It seems to happen every time I go for a session and the reiki practitioner always says they have never seen that reaction and can't explain it.

It feels quite a pleasant experience but seems to freak out the practitioner

Anyone any idea what is happening?
    Thanks
