Today I've seen a good car destroyed for sale

Ever seen a good car for sale that the seller has ruined for some unexplainable reason?

Let me kick start this one.

A reasonable E23 for sale that been lowered, been resprayed and been (I assume) dechromed.

All in all it looks shyte to me and is pretty much worthless as it needs to be repaired now, add to that it comes without an NCT.

One engine picture has parts, the other has them missing. It's a one owner car apparently with a FSH. It's rare enough now and it's been VRT'd.

    Jaaaaaaysus

That is a pure shame if i ever seen one, and that's coming from someone who doesn't even like bmw's

I've see rat look cars and in a weird way I get that. But the above just looks wnak.

I literally don't get it. It needs to be repaired to some state. At the minute it's nothing and priced as if it's a good car. The before picture has mismatched paint and any buyer could look at that and see what might need to be done. As it's been fooked about with it's impossible to know what state it's in.

I suspect it's destined for the scrap heap unless someone really wants it.

That genuinely annoys me. I'm not a BMW head but any old car that's lived long enough deserves to be kept in good condition rather than have someone ruin it.

This looks like a job forrrrr

    DGT

With his super powers of repairing the unrepairable DGT was raised by his parents as a child until one day struck by a radio active spanner :pac:
As a result he gained the power to repair even heaps like this

    -superhero music-

But yeah looks like it could use some work, but yer mans probably done more damage than good

That looks ridiculous. Can't see it going anywhere besides the scrap heap really.

on a side note, that reg plate is stupidly long thanks to the import criteria

Give it a Yank style chop top roof, decent matte grey paint and different (more period, very wide, 17" max and slightly stretched tyres) wheels and it becomes something quite cool.
Then supercharge it for bonus points.

3k ... lol ... you'd pick up one in decent condition in the UK for around 500-1000 quid sterling.

    What a moron.

Ouch. How much was it pre-Nitromors?

Saw it turning up at the BMW classics show in Straffan - it made baby jesus cry.
I'd be tempted by it if it was priced at €500 or so.

Oh sweet lord lamb of god.

It was beautiful beforehand. My jaw is on the floor here at the mess they have made of it. Why ruin good paint?

Thing is they spent money on it to make it worth less in real terms. Nothing against rat look but start off on a **** looking car and do a proper job on it. That one looks like they ran out of cash half way through.

No interior photos, no headrests and no mention of equipment means it's probably not that well speced which is a drawback for a car of that size.

Also claims it's NCT exempt which it isn't as it's an '82 which wouldn't make me trust them too much.

Why on earth would anyone do that?

It does say in the advert it needs a respray. Possibly a project that they got bored of/ran out of cash for? Chances are the paint in the original picture of the car wasn't as good as it looked and it needed work anyway.

The lowering and the wheels are too much but each to their own on that front.

this looks to me like it was being prep'd for the respray it needs.
The painted pic - I presume was the start point, where it clearly needed a respray as the doors are numerous colours.

    Welded Diff!

Pretty much a guaranteed way to destroy a decent Merc, BMW, Sierra or Omega which otherwise could have made a good 2nd car for someone

Also this time of year the GAA-heads will be painting and parking up older cars in county colours, another pointless eyesore.

Thought I'd drag this up as I met the new owner - he's the guy who works on my E30.

The car was being prepped for a respray that never happened, needed a lot of mechanical work. It is being treated to an overhaul, but not one which is likely to please the purists.

An M60B44 engine is being fitted (V8 from an E39), a respray in black and an interior retrim. Car is being sent to Lithuania for the paint work.
