Did you finish your course of medication? How long ago did you go to the doctor? Not every course of treatment works, sometimes prescribed medication can need tweaking/changing or a course of therapy works. I'd strongly advise you to go back to your GP as soon as possible hon and tell them how you are feeling. You don't have to put up with feeling this terrible but you do have to seek medical help.

Hi OP, you say it's in the last few months that you've been feeling like this. Did something change a few months ago that might have triggered the anxiety? It might be worth getting a referral for a good counsellor to see if there's a specific source for the anxiety. Medications can be helpful, but it can take a while to find the right one for you.

I know just how you feel. I get bouts of anxiety every couple of months, I find any kind of alcohol can seriously worsen it so if you drink Id quit for a while, Most of the medication the docs prescribe take more than a month to really start working which personally I dont bother with as the anxiety never lasts with me for more than a week or two. Talk to th doctor and see will they try xanax, These set to work almost straight away and really work well. Doctors dont really like to prescribe these easily though as they can be quite addictive. Medication isnt really the best option though so maybe talk to your gp about some CBT. Hope this helps

You need to go back to your doctor and get a perscription for something else. When I started to suffer from anxiety I went to my doctor and they just gave me some zanax about 2 wks worth like yourself. They didnt really do much for me so I went back and he put me on antidepressents lexapro which made me feel a bit sick so I had to go back again. The 3rd time he put me on effexor which really worked for me and helped me a lot with panic attacks. However medication isnt the solution you will also need to get a counsellor - ask your doc to reccommmend one. You need to try and figure out what is causing your anxiety and make steps to resolve it.
Best of luck, it will get easier trust me :)

As far as I'm aware with anxiety medication they often don't begin to work until 2weeks or more of taking them, so you might want to go back to your doctor about that.

Is it social anxiety related to how you might look or appear to others ?, a helpful mental crutch for this is the thought ''I've a head, two arms and two legs just like everybody else around me has so why would anybody especially notice me?''.

This seems to do the trick for me as it takes away a lot of self consciousness as to how people might be 'reading' you, thinking about your thoughts all the time ( metacognition ) becomes a brutal hamster's wheel that you can't get off.

I was prescribed anti depressants for anxiety and found it took quite some time for them to work. When they started to work the effect was very subtle and I still felt anxious at times but generally it was within the normal range. I'd recommend going back to your doctor and maybe a counselor. You're doc can advise.
