Yesterday I tried to bleed a rad in my hall, its been a problem rad for years.

however now today my gas boiler wont heat rads or the water when I turn it on.
Normally you can see a blue flame in the gas bolier, but I cant see it now, just making noise.
its a Baxi Solo boiler and its in the house about 15 years now, get it checked every few years only. would it be something simple or is it time to get a new one ?
if a new one, how much am I looking at to get it replaced ?

System pressure is too low. You need to replace the water you removed from the rad bringing pressure back to about 1.3 bar.

any idea how I do that ? There is a red control on top of the gas Boiler, but when I turn that , water just comes out of the ( I think ) over flow pipe out in the garden

If you can see if that pic, you can see the pressure is at zero, how do i fill it up to 1.5 as you said ?

if its at zero thats the problem,
can you see a braided flexi hose in your hot press?
or else put up a few pics of the hot press

defo no filler loop on it nor in the hot press.

That is a handle ( in the down position )
    down heats the water
    up heats water and rads

when I follow that pipe , there is a stop cock on it, just before it enters the attic,

The stop cock is fully turned in the "anti clockwise position" so should be open

check to see if you have a small black tank in the attic,if theres water in that

System could be "semi-sealed" with a gate valve off. If so, the gate valve will be normally just above a non-return valve on a 1/2" feed from the attic.

I know there is a small black tank in the attic alrite, this is just above the main large tank, I will have to check tomorrow if this is full of water, as the kids have just gone to bed now.

Cant thank you both enough for your help here, as I dont fancy having to pay somebody a few hundred euro to do it. so thanks again.

    speak to you tomorrow.

Follow the 1/2" pipe coming from the bottom of this small tank to the hot press. You should see generally a red round handle valve on this pipe in the hot press. Turn this fully anti-clockwise. It may seem already fully anti-clockwise but they can be very stiff.
