I bought estee lauders idealist pore minimiser five weeks ago, it broke me out after a couple of weeks. I googled other people's reviews and someone said to keep going that it might be my skin adjusting.. My skin is still horrendous.
I now have little over half of it left and it seems like such a waste.
I don't have the receipt for arnotts.
    Can I return it?!?!

Also, I bought lush's dry shampoo and it's really rubbish. I love Lush and find the face masks, scrubs and moisturisers that I buy from time to time amazing. It's still pretty much full.
    I don't have that receipt.
Can I return it to any Lush store? I bought it in Henry st store.

I've googled both brand queries and could find nothing.

I've never really returned cosmetics before but one of my friends returned a Bobbin Brown foundation that she wasn't happy with and said that when she's not happy with cosmetics especially ones that are expensive she brings them back and nearly always gets a refund or exchange!

Return policies are at the discretion of the individual company. Your best bet is to ring them and ask.

Would you be prepared to accept an alternative product? They might be more open to that as you don't have proof of purchase.

    Yep, I think I would.

    Anyone know Estee Lauders policy?

It's not Estee Lauder's policy that applies, it is the policy of the store you bought it in.

If you bought it in Arnotts, then it is Arnotts policy which applies. If you are unsure you could phone them, explain the situation and ask, or else go in and see if they can/will do anything.

I always thought you can only bring something back if it is in re-sellable condition. If there is nothing wrong with the product why would they refund?

I doubt a store would accept a half used product because it didn't agree with your skin, unless they've had a lot of trouble with it and it's known to cause problems. That's just me surmising though. Personally, I wouldn't attempt to return something on that basis.

My mam brought back a load of stuff to Clarins as it was really bad for her skin. She'd gotten them as a present, probably used each product only once or twice. They didn't do a refund but gave her lots of generous samples of other products to try to see if anything else in their line would be suitable.

Having used half of the product already, I don't think you really have a case for refund or exchange with Estee Lauder.

They don't have to refund if there is nothing wrong with the product. They don't even have to refund if it's unused and can be resold.

Some offer this service as a gesture of good will towards their customers. It makes customers feel better about the brand so they are more likely to be loyal to them.

I know most Clinique offer this service, you can return anything you have purchased if you are not 100% happy with it and get a full refund even if you have used a good bit of it.

I have no idea about Estee Lauder but there is certainly precedent for this type of thing within the high end brands so it's totally worth asking. The worst you'll get is a no.
