Basically Im going to court over 1.5 grams of cannabis, so the police say
If I get convicted, how will this affect me in travel?
    US, Aus, Can, Europe????

civil replies would be appreciated, I know I broke the law and I'm a fool, etc etc

can you get charged for that?
jeez , sorry to hear that
your not a fool , everyone tries a smoke of weed at some point in their lives.
seems very harsh for what is very obviously personal use.

not sure on the travelling , but id suspect it will have an impact :(

If the State is seriously considering bringing a case against you for possession of 1.5 grams of Cannabis, what an utter waste of resources that'd be.

Perhaps you're jumping the gun though and getting yourself overly worried, before you've reason to be - where are you in the process at present?

As far as the US is concerned, mere possession does not in itself represent an act of 'Moral turpitude'. If convicted, you may well have to attend the Embassy for interview prior to being issued a visa (though I'm guessing US CBP officers will still be the final arbiter on whether you're granted entry).

basically the gardai have said that if we don't give a name where we got it from we are going to court.
so we are not ratting anybody out. Just awaiting on a summons I suppose

Seek the advice of a good Solicitor, preferably one known to you and your family. Though you're naturally apprehensive about the situation you're in, things may not be as dire as you currently perceive them to be.

Also just to add if you might not receive a summons.... I did witness a young man in court over a similar amount and he was directed to make a payment into the poor box, have no idea how this showed up on his records... I also know a female who was charged with 4 Gramms and she received a fine and a criminal record... Outrageous really...

As yamanato said. Theyre playing hardball and think they can get a dealers name off of you. I seriously, seriously doubt you can be done for anything other than the most minor of infractions. And even thats if youve been done before. Get a good solicitor anyway and see if you can call their bluff. Court over 1.5 grams Jesus Christ...

Incidentaly, Australia might be out as they really dont take any prisoners. And now, are looking for any excuse. Got a hundred quid fine for a loud exhaust a few years back and will probably regret it should I bother trying to go.

    your life isnt ruined :)
as im now an older dude with a lot of experience i would maybe take the view that im not missing much in a country that would want me banned for a crumb of hasish.

same sort of thing where in a few years you will stop going to bars and clubs that have bouncers on the door.

follow the above advice about legal stuff and most important , stay cool.
its not your job to be ratting dealers! you dont want any hassle , stay cool and play them back by the rules.

    Hi there random1337,

While I understand that you would be apprehensive about the situation you find yourself in; I don't think posting anymore on this online would be in your best interest.

I suggest you take the advice of the above posters and Seek some Legal Advice (which is not permitted on boards).

I do Wish You Well in Your Future though & Just Remember Your Life really is only beginning so learn from this and try not to re-offend!

    Thanks,
    kerry4sam
