Hey boards, just wanted to get some feedback on a particular laptop that was recommended to me recently.

I'm heading to college this year and the course is project/theory based, which to me suggests that lots of notes will be taken down and such.. also means there is a chance i'll need to make up my own notes and getting a laptop seems the best way for someone like me to do.

I'm not looking for the laptop's GPU to be blazing in the graphical department but it would be nice if the card could handle games on medium settings with steady FPS (30+). It needs to be fast enough to handle processes and allow multi-tasking with apps and such. After some research and recommendations, this laptop appeared :

Just would like to know if this is a good option? Fast? Is it good the games department? Editing?

FYI, in games department, i'm talking only about Source & Emulators (HL2,Counter Strike Source,L4D2,Portal 2, NES, Etc..)

And lastly, my apologies for the army of text! :o

Yes, a A-10 laptop with 8 GB RAM and 1 TB HDD for €519 is a good deal (comparable to a Core i5 with a mid-range GPU).

Too good to be true maybe, "Save €280" might set off some alarm bells when you follow this thread. ;)

I saw this thread and was thinking the same thing. I'll guess I'll have to ring them tomorrow and ask if this is actually what the price is and such.

Thanks for the input, so would you say this laptop will run games on nice settings with suitable frame rates? :D

No, I would certainly not say that. It's a multimedia rather than a gaming laptop, the GPU is comparable to a GT 630M. Review and benchmarks here.

Well, that's better then my old laptop anyway. I'm not talking about 1920x1080 quality, I'm more less asking if it will be able to run games at 30+ frames with medium-high on 1366x768?

Thanks again for coming back to leave another bit of feedback.

    hey

i bought this laptop myself last week, i actually got it for 499. Was looking for bang 4 buck and tbh its pretty good, its not ultra book or anything like that but good solid laptop. boots in about 4-5 seconds even though it doesnt have ssd.
It will play games fine in low/med settings. Left 4 dead 2 runs really good and trine 2.

day to day use for movies, web browsing its fast.
