Uh, that's all on you man. They have recommended "patterns" that you can follow, but it depends entirely on where your own interests lie.

I was going to suggest the full Maths modules, but they're changing them this year so I'm unfamiliar with the new content and lecturers. If you are comfortable with Maths, or don't mind it, then it is a good option (a lot of people find it easier to get a first in Maths than most other modules).

Geology (if Chris is still taking it) is awesome. Seriously one of the more enjoyable modules I took in 1st year. Only downside is that it's only available in the second semester.

After that it depends on what you want to pursue in 3rd year. If you want a Bio-based option, then it might be good to keep up Chemistry as, coupled with Biology, it gives you the biggest choice. Also they're fairly flexible if you don't like a module, it's easy enough to transfer into a different one.

One warning is that Chemistry has the highest drop out and failure rates. It's not impossible to do well in it, but a lot of people switch into Geology in second year.

I'd recommend doing geology/geography to keep your options open in 2nd year. I did biology, chemistry and maths all through first year but really struggled with chemistry and didn't want to keep it on. After talking to the science course office I was allowed to just keep up biology and maths, but it's not really recommended and the decision had to be made by the course director. However if I'd done geology/geography I would have had that option and there would have been no problem.

Keep in mind that if you want to do physics in the sophister years, you have to do all physics and maths modules in JF and SF

It all depends on what you're interested in really.

Here's the pattern for JF: http://www.tcd.ie/Science/undergraduate/jf/
If that's a bit confusing don't worry on the 16th you're going to have an introductory talk where it'll be explained properly and lecturers will talk to you about the different modules. You'll get a booklet with the patterns, module descriptions and prerequisites for second and third year. Afterwards you fill out a form with your choices. If you're confused about anything or need more information you can talk to a lecturer one on one, or there will be students (like me!) around to answer questions.

There's also a general science thread if you've got any specific questions

If you want to do physics pretty much have to decide now and do the physics + maths modules.

If you have no interest in that do Chem1 , Bio1 and Maths1 in the first semester and depending on what you're most interested in you can switch out one of them for geology in the second semester. That should keep the most options open.

If you do physics, you get the textbook free

That's true, a copy of University Physics comes in so handy in first year.
