I've just reserved on of these TVs in Argos. Is it a good deal?

Having been gutted at missing the recent fantastic LG/Panasonic deals on here I've been determined to find another one.

This TV is also in DID for €749.99 and Power City for €699.99

The only thing it seems to be missing is 3D? Given I'm replacing a 28" CRT TV will I even notice?

Apologies had no success trying to post a direct link - aside from this

£499 on Amazon with no special offer or reduction indicated..

.. smells like another over-inflated RRP from Argos tbh.

Am sure it's fine for the money (judging from reviews), but was never worth anything close to a grand.

What do you think of the price?

no idea if its a good tv, seams fairly big but if you have the room:)

also if you check down the bottom it says item has been previously on sale at 699...70e saving?

the pricing down below is usually a good indication of a more realistic rrp

Doesn't seem to have the silver bezel of the Argos one and if my rusty German serves - it can't be delivered to my address.

theres a shop in the north called dalzells that will deliver. I'd give then a ring . And also Richer sounds have a "talk to" on Boards.

Thats the L42B6 ,not the 42E6.
The 42E6 is a far superior set ,I picked it up on ibood last month for 485 euro delivered.

Great set for 485 ,630 is a decent price for it though at this stage ,it was over 900 when it first came out

Powercity will usually price match, and are much better to deal with should you have any problems later, in my experience. Nice looking set, and great reviews.

I think Panasonic make the second best TVs out there...Pioneer being the first.

    That TV will be cracking..

Therefore panasonic make the best TV's, as Pioneer stopped production about 2010 :D

No, feedback is crucial to this forum.

If you buy the TV without reading feedback from other users.. so be it!

Same set in Panasonic store here I think

nice of the Pana store to do real good deals - wonder if they will price match?

Just rang them. They don't price match as they reckon their 6 year warranty justifies the higher price. They offered to reduce their price from €779 to €749 to include delivery to Dublin but not the removal of the old TV. I will definitely go with Slick50's idea and check with Power City tomorrow.

They will only take the old TV if I were to bring it to their store in Limerick - as they use couriers to deliver and can't ask them to take it away.

there are laws in ireland to prevent this.

"if the product is being delivered you are entitled to have the old item collected at the same time for no extra cost on the same one-for-one, like for like basis. If a new product is being delivered to a customer’s home retailers cannot charge for collection of the waste equipment (although a retailer can charge a delivery fee). Retailers must give 24 hours notice of delivery and the old item must be disconnected from all utilities. If you do not wish to avail of the free collection of waste equipment on delivery of new equipment, then you have 30 days to return it to the retailer’s premises if you wish to avail of free retailer take back."

One more thing to point out. Is check reviews on more than one sight.
Was looking at a 50" Plasma in tesco from LG. Great reviews on the tesco website, but the tv was slated everywhere else.
Ended up with a set I am really happy with
    Panasonic TX-L37E5B.

There are consistently good reviews on numerous sites. It would seem then that this TV is an excellent one at a so so price - although €629.99 seems to be the cheapest price for it in Ireland right now anyway.

I was not talking about this television in particular. I was offering general advice.

In that case I'm glad I went with Power City (today) in the end. They wouldn't match Argos price but the offered a 5 year warranty and will deliver to me tomorrow/set it up and take away old TV.

I've always found Argos great to deal with, and they have the advantage of having stores pretty much everywhere.

I think for overall pricing, delivery, returns policy and customer service Amazon are usually unbeatable,as mentioned in an earlier post they are doing the said tv at £499 and thats their normal price

It's actually been around £580 at amazon until mid august £499 is the lowest it's ever been http://charts.camelcamelcamel.com/uk/B00BHU9CYC/amazon.png?force=1&zero=0&w=725&h=440&desired=false&legend=1&ilt=1&tp=all&fo=0

Many people have had problems with Amazon delivery, returns and customer service.

I find their CS generally helpful, but often hopelessly inept and unable to understand my concerns due to (I'm guessing) the language barrier. I've also found having to return bulky items abroad to unnecessarily stressful, and often expensive.

I was just going on personal experience having been a frequent buyer for many years,i dont doubt a site of its size will have its problems but IMHO they beat any bricks and mortar experience hands down.I do agree returning anything can be a bit of a nuisance, but the savings that can be made plus the fact that they refund postage costs for faulty/defective items surely offsets this

Don't get me wrong, about half of all my internet purchases are from Amazon UK - I just wouldn't proselytize about them as much as you might :)

Generally I go to a b&m shop with a good returns policy for something large and long term like a TV, and I don't reckon that the saving of €10 in this case makes it worthwhile going with Amazon over Argos!

Totally agree with you on the TV here, obviously not worth it for a tenner but im currently looking for a new TV myself [on a smaller budget!] and have found price differences of up to 100 euro less than anything any Irish retailer is offering, thats quite significant.

I'm actually surprised that Amazon will deliver the tv to Ireland ,they rarely ship 42 inch sets .
