    Hey,

New to this so apologies if this is in the wrong area. Just wondering has anyone seen the new online registration? http://www.lyit.ie/onlineregistration/

I was tempted to go ahead and register online and pay my registration fees now. Does that mean I don't have to go to the college on registration day? What about the photo on the student card? Anyone have any information? :)

This must be new, I don't remember seeing that before?

If you're going into first year, then I'd say you should go to the college for registration.
There are a number of other activities that are arranged for first years, like college tour, chat with your Dept. Head, see your timetable; plus it's a good time to get to know your other class mates.

If you're not going into first year, then it's probably a good idea.
I wouldn't worry about the photo, as you can always get that taken at reception, although there is often a queue.

I'm going into 4th year, but I'll still go to registration, as it's the first time I'll see the rest of my class, and see who's still here!

I'm quite worried as I have not received a letter and I'm not able to do online registration? It says not open for my programme yet my friend done it recently?

I failed one subject last year, but did not know exactly what I had to repeat so I was leaving it till this year to repeat once I get back. It was only worth 5 points,so I got 55/60 for the year, which I'm well happy with.

Have I made a mistake somewhere?

I don't understand how you could not know which subject you had to repeat. Presumably it's the one you failed, no?

Weren't the repeat exams held over the last couple of weeks?

    Yes, and No.

As you're going into 2nd year, you should be ok to carry a 5 credit module from 1st year, (although technically, you're not supposed to carry modules between years), but because you'll actually be repeating the entire module, instead of just repeating the exam, you'll have to pay extra to register that module.
Until you get this sorted, you won't be able to register.

You'll need to get in contact with the Admin Secretary for whatever Department you're in. Let me know what qualification you're doing and I'll try to get you a contact name.

Did anyone get their letters for registration yet? Containing their bank giro etc? Still unsure about this whole online registration until I hear from the college. Going into fourth year so I am entitled to register online but I might just sit tight and wait and see.

Going into 4th year too, and didn't get my registration pack yet either.
Not to worry, you'll get it before the 10th / 13th.
