I'm looking for a Freesat HD dish and a Soarview HD setup.

I have the aerial (powered) and most, if not all, the cabling in place (including the cabling to a now-broken disk).

I want a HD box with recording capabilities. It absolutely must be easy to use.

Anyone recommend a box and / or a provider who will supply and install?

I got a Walker system. I use my Sky dish and a rabbit's ears indoor aerial. Very easy to install and use but not as easy as the Sky system. Very useable all the same

    Discussed here

If you tell us your location someone may be able to recommend a local installer. Have a look here also - http://www.isaa.tv/isaamap.htm

Do you have a Saorview TV at the moment?

A 2 box solution, Saorview+ (Irish channels) and Freesat+ (UK channels) PVRs is an option, both with series link, 7 day programme guide, built in HDD, digital text, twin-tuners (watch one/record one or record two/playback one etc).

There are combi receivers out there, such as the Walker referred to previously, but can be lacking in certain areas such as no digital text, no 7 day guide for satellite channels, no built-in HDD (external HDD required), no series link, record one channel/watch one channel.

Saorview+ PVR (only 1 official Saorview PVR on the market)

    Freesat+ PVR
http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/ (rh column) - the Manhattan Plaza HDR-S and other Freesat+ PVRs start about £150

Yes, TV is <1 year old and purchased in Ireland.

Interesting. 7 day EPP, twin tuners, very attractive.

No series link? No good for me then.

    Really appreciate the help.

Tony from satellite.ie is a regular poster here and is located over in Tallaght.

Would you consider upgrading the dish yourself, considering all the cabling is in place?

BTW: The Freesat+ PVR requires 2 cable from the dish just like Sky+.

Thanks for all the help, getting a roof-pole-mounted high-gain aerial and 1TB box installed to give me saorvoew and freeview+ HD, with EPG and series link.

Local guy (Howth) was out tonight testing the Freeview signal and fixing aerial. Back next week to cable it via attic and install / setup box.

One box, no dish, one cable, two tuners, happy bunny.

Which box is he installing? It has been posted here that some Freeview/FreeviewHD boxes may not be able to auto record from both Saorview and Freeview at the same time (something to do with not been able to see both epgs at the same time), manual recording appears to be OK.

3 tuners if you include your TV, allowing you to record 2 and watch another via the TV.

Is this a single aerial to receive Clermont Carn & Kilkeel? Maybe post a pic?

Would be interesting if you could keep us posted on the reliability of Freeview too, it being a new installation & all.

Sorry not been back on thread for ages.

Freeview reliability is "pretty good"... some of the lower-level HD stations (BBC3, Itv4) can have patchy performance in bad weather.

It's not a huge deal - family watches mainly RTE, CBBC, Cbeebies, and they are all great.

Yes - it is a single aerial for both. Also the Panasonic box is AWESOME - easy to use, etc.
