Best Android Phone in the €200-€300 Price Range

    Hi all,

Just wondering if any of you had any advice, be it from personal experience or friends' anecdotes or whatever, on the best android phone in the price range 200 to 300 euros.

I'm on PAYG so the real high end stuff are out of the question. I do spend plenty of time on the internet, plenty of multi-tasking and stuff so a very quick, responsive phone would be great.

Initially, I had planned to get the Prestigio Multiphone, which I saw at a technology expo in Intel. It reatails from 249 (I think) but I'm just a bit put off by the lack of brand knowledge really. I've never really heard of them before but to spend 200+ on a phone I'd need to be that bit informed, or maybe look at a more established brand.

The HTC Desire X was one that caught my eye. But if anyone has any advice/opinions on phones in this specific bracket, I'd be really grateful to hear from you.

    Cheers!

Good call on the Nexus 4. Also on Adverts I picked up a Sony Xperia Z for 300 a month or so ago. Excellent phone. Along with the HTC One and the Galaxy S4 it's up there as the best handset out there (as a well known brand - just getting that in there so as not to upset the purists:))

Would agree that the nexus 4 would be one of your best bets. Lies within that price range and is pretty close in spec to the current flagships and you also have the added bonus of updates direct from google

Galaxy s3 for €270 has been advertised recently, can't remember where though.

When people checked the shipping details it ended up that a completely different phone was shipped as the company in question made a mistake in advertising the S3 at that price on their website.

    Hi,

The Desire X is a bit old, but at the same price range you have the Galaxy Core or the Galaxy Grand.

I've heard great things about the Sony Xperia SP and also you can get a Xperia Z for about the max of your budget given the release of the Z1.

If you can get a nexus 4 then that is the best phone in this price range.
The rumoured nexus 5 is supposedly coming out at the end of this month and reports say it could cost around the 300 euro mark.
Otherwise if your going up the north, Three are selling a Motorola Razr i for £150 (175 euro approx.) bargain at that price so it is!

I think the best phone is that price range is probably a second hand phone. I bought mine off amazon market place, a note 2, for less than 300. It came as described in pristine condition. With amazon market place sellers you can return your purchase for a full refund if it doesn't meet your expectations. Personally I prefer that safe guard rather than buying on adverts.ie etc.

Im tempted to get a second hand s3 http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B0080DJ6CM/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1381004097&sr=8-1&keywords=samsung+galaxy+S3&condition=used

I say give it a try, you do have some protections.
The only thing Id be careful of myself is that the seller is based in the UK. I got mine from a pawnshop that sold through amazon. They had address and even a phone no. in their seller info on amazon and I googled to ensure the shop existed . Good luck! :)

Ya the one im looking at is from one of those cash converters shops. My only worry is what do i do if it develops the sudden death syndrome (insane chip)

    Then you're in trouble :/

Same situation as me... just have hope it won't happen.
Maybe ask for the age of the phone? You might be able to determine from that if its old enough to have the dodgy chip. I know someone who bought an s3 second on amazon on this summer and got a phone with the new chip thats unaffected.
