Truck Licence Valid In New Zealand

Is an Irish truck/artic licence valid in New Zealand?

I am aware the car licence is but I am thiking of getting my truck licence before heading over,if its not valid over there well then I might leave it as its a lot of expense otherwise

class 2-6 are heavy vehicles and can be transferred the same as a car licence by the looks of those two.

the NZTA are the crowd to get in touch with anyway. Irish licence don't even need a test for cars, just a straight swap so may be easy enough.

If you have held your Irish licence for less than 2 years then you have to do part of their test over their I think, not the whole test. But seeing as this thread is a month old, did you get any more info? Been wondering about this myself

Yeah after doing further reading it seems if you have a heavy goods licence less than two years you have to do the practical test.

That is only if you want to exchange your licence for a NZ one. I think that your Irish truck licence should be valid for 1 year allowing you to drive trucks up to the same category. I have the same categories but was going to ring the transport section of the police to confirm.
