Looking for a group or club to run with

I've always run by myself but think it's time to up my game and find a group or club of like-minded runners to run with. I live by the Phoenix Park. I go for my runs at about 6pm weekdays or early 8am Saturdays. I just did my first half in 1:43. So I "think" that I might do the full Dublin marathon. So I'm following a runnersworld intermediate training plan. I'm set for a 16miler this weekend. I do around 8 min/mile on shorter runs and 9+ min/mile on long runs. I like to mix it up during the week with intervals or hills every now and again. Anybody got any suggestions out there for some buddies, groups or clubs who are on the same track?

You could contact Donor Harriers, They are based by Phoenix Park and may have a group you could jump into. Otherwise have a look at the Dublin Meet-up group, they run around Dublin and have runners of all levels

Civil Service Harriers (aka Phoenix Park Runners) are a running club with their clubhouse just off Chesterfield Avenue across the road from the zoo. They cater for all ranges of abilities and are always open to new members. I'm sure a number of their members are training for the Dublin marathon this year. Training takes place from the clubhouse on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 pm, Saturday at 10 am, and Sunday at 9 am. If you're interested you can just go down there on any of those days and introduce yourself and take it from there.

Raheny Shamrock are a bit further away from you (centre of Raheny village), but people meet at 6.30 every evening to train, and do long runs 8am on Sundays. There would be quite a few people around your pace, as well as slower runners and faster runners. Last year I think 35 club members ran the Dublin Marathon, so you'd have plenty of company!

Liffey Valley AC are based in Islandbridge beside the Phoenix Park. Our training sessions are every Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7pm with other runs leaving the clubhouse on Saturday and Sundays at 10am. Call down to the clubhouse on any of these days and someone will look after you. The clubhouse is based near the Memorial Gardens Entrance beside Macs Salvage Yard.
