Medical Expenses Relief

Can a self employed person claim medical expenses relief?

Basically my father is self-employed my mother doesn't work.
My mother fell ill this year, and private health insurance covered everything except consultants fees.
The consultants fees are about to reach the 1000 Euro mark for the last 12 months. As you can imagine any taxation deduction would help them out.

Of course. He includes them in his Income tax return so long as he or your mother has incurred the expense.
