Replacement Quartz movement for Tommy Hilfiger Watch

    Hello!

My Mother has a small rectangular Tommy Hilfiger watch that has broken. The jeweller told her that replacing the battery will not fix the problem. The watch wasn't overly expensive, but my Mother likes the look of it so I'd like to get it going again.

I've been looking online for replacement movements. The current movement has no markings or description on it, all I've been able to tell by dimensioning is that the ligne sizes are 6 3/4 X 8

I've tried a number of sites online to buy a suitable movement, but the ones I've come across all require ordering in much larger quantities. And I don't need 200 of these!

Has anybody any idea where I should look, or have any experience with locating replacement quartz movements?

You only hope is to find the same watch for sale online and move that movement to your one. Seems excessive though.

There is no market for replacement movements for fashion watches, when the watch breaks people throw them out. Its a disposable world unfortunately.

Can't imagine you'll have much success

Try here and get a good watch brand e.g. Seiko.

I may sound sanctimonious, but I'll risk it - Seiko don't make jeans, so why do Hilfiger insist on putting their label on cheap-ish watches and over-charging for them?

Have you tried contacting hilfiger themselves?

I've owned 3 given to me as gifts. They look smart, but each one has broken within a couple of years.

I think I'd be inclined to write it off and get something that looks similar but from a brand that's more robust.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I was hoping that I'd just be able to get a cheap movement and it would only cost a tenner and solve the problem, and it would keep the mother happy. I didn't think sourcing one would be such a problem!

Another watch is an option, she quite likes my Steinhart Military, but they don't do anything smaller than chunky 42mm watches, so I might just keep my eye open elsewhere.

I haven't contacted them yet, I tend to do go the route that isn't quite immediately obvious or logical!

That would be my first route.
If anything they'd be able to point you in the right direction. How old is it?
Sale of goods act may come into it as it should last longer than 2 years.

It's probably close to 10 years old at this stage, the jewellers said damage due to being in her swimming bag was the problem and the mechanism couldn't be fixed. I took it apart and it seems ok to my eyes anyway. It does look like something you'd see in a toy watch though!

I don't know watches too well, only buying my first proper watch this week, but god that looks bad.
You'd probably be cheaper buying her a new watch from one of the lower end but well known brands than trying to fix that.
It might have sentimental value attached but at the same time shed appreciate a watch that you'd buy her and get sentimental to it.

It looks like a cheap ETA movement , I can't remember the caliber number . Have a search on cousinsuk , I'm sure you'll find it for under a tenner
