Looks like UFC will be back in Europe and Ireland in 2014 after unveiling with 4 return stops and 2 new ones including Ireland, Turkey, Poland and Germany according to Garry Cook, MD for UFC in Europe.....
    Can't wait already

The best thing about this is that, with the success of Conor and the impending (hopefully) UFC success of Paddy Holohan, UFC might treat the Ireland card the same way they treat Brazilian cards and UK cards (And even the Swedish card). We might actually get a good bit of Irish involvement.Guys like Seery, Fields, JMS, etc getting a chance to fight on the card.

    Hopefully anyway!

Either way, its been too long since they've been over so just looking forward to seeing a live event. But would be good to get a good mix of potential irish signings and UFC stalwarts. Don't think there'll be any big draws or title fights but last time they were here we got to see Hendo, Shogun, Franklin and Coleman so be interesting to see who gets brought over.
    Can't wait

It is going to be the 3rd quarter next year, so summertime. There will be too much hype on the card from a Mc Gregor homecoming that the UFC will have to make it good card. I would love to see Pickett and Parke on the card from the current UFC crop and of course a couple more Irish guys.

Brandao calling out McGregor but for Vegas. Not sure if he'd buy into fighting in front of a partisan irish crowd....
Could be a good one, dangerous fighter and a good test for Conor.
If its the end of the summer then they won't get Croke Park. Thats a damn shame but the Aviva could be a good option

Croker would be absolutely horrific for the UFC. The pitch is enormous in Croker and we wouldn't see anything, The Aviva is a maybe but that said I think the aviva sight lines are poor.

RDS is the best place for this, if its outdoor. They can rig it better for the UFC and have much more flexibility with the lay out.

RDS is probably a good size but do you think they may do Cork, Belfast or Limerick instead of necessarily doing Dublin again.
The O2 was good last time but maybe they'll move it about

No chance, especially Belfast in summer and I think Belfast is never going to happen again due to issues with UFC 72. I don't think the UFC were about the event (not the fights but other things). It will be Dublin, it makes no sense to go anywhere else.

WTF is everyone on about, an outdoor event? Get real, it will never happen, Zuffa will not take a risk wit the weather.

It'll be in The O2, i'd stake my house on it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 910 ✭✭✭PauloConn

I know it will be but surely there's somewhere bigger than the O2, in the capital thats covered for about September 2014???
But September's always a great month over here; kids go back to school, all ireland is coming to a head.... best time for an outdoor UFC event if you ask me.

No, there is nowhere bigger in the O2 over here, it WILL be there without a doubt

    This.

Not a chance its happening anywhere else. Firstly, Croke Park or Aviva?!! Not a chance they'd sell out.

Annoyingly, an awful lot of bandwagon jumpers are going to be eyeing this one up, but id be VERY surprised if they've any idea of the expected price. Tickets are likely to start at €90-100ish. With a decent one being around €140. Id be very surprised if that sort of 'fan' would pay that price for essentially one fight. Whereas the MMA fans in Ireland will also be interested in the rest of the card.

It will be in the O2. Its the best venue for many reasons. Zuffa were weary of having an outdoor show in Texas because of the weather, they're not going to do it in Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 910 ✭✭✭PauloConn

I'm hoping they price it about the same as last time. I was up in the higher levels but with screens around the venue it was good.
I'm looking forward to hearing the crowds again, es[ecially if there's a few irish lads fighting

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33 pbee

I reckon an event in the O2 first then maybe Aviva or the likes.

Who is ufc standard or will be in 12 months, that would be likely to be on the card?
    Mcgregor (thats not in question)
    Holohan?
    Pendred?
    Seery?

    4 certs there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,841 ✭✭✭lertsnim

Was up near the back myself for UFC 93 and it was a little bit too far away and I was at an angle for the screen so that wasn't the best view either. I'd definitely be looking to go closer to the Octagon next time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 910 ✭✭✭PauloConn

I was the 2nd to cheapest seats but had a good view of the screens. The crowd was intense for that as well between Tom Egan and Marcus Davis, can't wait for it to happen again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,959 ✭✭✭✭scudzilla

Guys, we will NEVER have an outdoor event here so lets start engaging brain before you type

For UFC93 we got the cheapest seats, 50Euro, front row, top tier, amazing view.

    ufc93view_zps29aedd6c.jpg

For 75 in London again got the cheapest seats, front row, top tier, think they were 50quid, another amazing view

    100_0791.jpg

Fcuk yer 400quid ringside seats and getting a cameraman in the way, give me upper tier front row any time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,659 ✭✭✭unknown13

Will not be sitting in the upper centre section again, if they go back to the 02, camera man was right in the way. Pain in the arse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,323 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

Yeah, we went with the expensive front row seats (But not cageside) for UFC 93.

Next time i'm going for the cheapseats!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 910 ✭✭✭PauloConn

I was looking for the tiered seats behind ringside, they looked like the bomb!!!!!

Yeah, Dana specifically mentioned them seats, said they were probably the best in the history of UFC, less than 10ft from the cage and tiered so no restrictions in any way.

If i had to go for ringside it would be them, but at probably 3/400 a pop that works out too dear for me and the wench

Stick away a tenner a week from now and you're sorted. I think that's what I'll be doing anyway.
I wonder will your mate get the nod for judging the event when it's over here.

Dunno, it's hit and miss, they flew him to Brazil but he's not doing the Manchester card :confused:

Yeah, the rows behind the ringside look like the best ones. Were they about 150 last time or a bit more?

Throw Parke in there too (Obviously)

Redser is 5-0 in Cage Warriors -momentum wise in 12 months what are peoples' thoughts?

    Parke is a cert too.

I really like Redmond. Still very raw and cardio looks like it could be better but he will only improve.

After that I dont think there is anyone else good enough.

Yeah ringside is terrible for a Cage sport. Its better for a Ring sport but its better to be in a higher seating area for a UFC/MMA cage show.

Would hate the feck out of myself if I chose the wrong seats, so top row front tier it is then?

He has fought some of the best in Europe and when you look it his losses he didn't have more than two weeks before each, as he doesn't seem to turn down fights. I think he is a capable if not more so the others being mentioned.

Only person of note on his CV is Taylor and he was finished early in the 2nd.

His last fight with Paraisy he drew and NP gassed very early. I hope he proves me wrong on TUF but he has done nothing suggest he will.

I'd have to dissagree, imo I think he has proved he is as ready as he could be. Do you have to wait until you consistently fight past ufc fighters to be ready. He has fought all available to him. As far as the diferent level of wrestling between european fighters and american fighters I think Chris defended well against JT considering Phillips got destroyed within a minute. He held off getting submitted by Kusch who has 14 /15 wins by submission and wasn't even touched by Philips whose striking is well known to be strong - he did get caught though!

I would love to see him get through.

On another note he is not a dope so wouldn't be embarassing to watch!!

No definatly not but I just dont think he has done enough in what has been put in front of him. Hes certainly not bad so bit of luck (which they all need) he progresses.
