Picture breakup during Rose of Tralee last night

I experienced a lot of very irritating picture breakup during the RoT both Monday and Tuesday. Fast camera movement - pans and zooms - would cause little freeze and jumps.

I eventually switched to our analogue cable for a more stable picture.

As my boxes both indicated 90-95% signal, and "very good" quality, I'm wondering if anyone else experienced the same, or is my aerial at fault?

It would hardly be both boxes?

    Transmitter was Three Rock.

    Thanks for the replies.

Looks like I'll have to investigate the aerial/boxes so.

I was hoping there'd be a significant number of people affected - ie that the problem might be on the transmission side, not the reception end.

    cheers!

JDxtra said Sky had the same issue and fryup said it only affected RTÉ1, sounds like a problem at RTÉ's end.

    Thanks, Cush, will do.

You're right of course. I'd just assumed there'd be more people complaining about it, if it was a nationwide problem, or even just from a single transmitter.

    I'm off to reboot!

Not that many watching the Rose of Tralee I guess, myself included.

Live GAA coverage on RTE2 on Saorview some weeks ago was also affected by this picture freezing/juddering, again it occured when there was rapid change in picture content (such as camera panning). This was seen on a Walker WP645TS (I mention the box just in case only certain boxes were somehow affected?)

If it was an aerial fault one would expect the sound to be also affected with the picture freezing, which it wasn't.
