How do you clear recent documents from MS Office and MS Excel?

    Even though I have deleted all my MS Word documents from the recycle bin, when I go into MS Word and click on the Home Button a side panel called 'recent documents' lists them all. If I click on one it says 'item not found'.

    Is there anyway to clear this list, the same thing is happening in MS Excel.

    "Clear Recent" in both programs.

    Just out of curiosity, why try opening documents yoi've already deleted ?

    Maybe you shudda kept the MBP :D

    Is 'clear recent' obvious? I've been trying to all day and haven't come across anything?

    I only tried opening a deleted document because I wasn't expected to see the title of the document still in the list so I wanted to make sure that it was in fact deleted. I was happy to see item not found.

    Sorry this is Windies. File>Open>My Recent Documents>Tools>Clear History (Office 2010 Professional Plus, Windoze XP)

    OS X anyone? :D

    I am windows but that doesn't work :-(

    I have home and student 2007.

    When I go and hover over open - recent documents list appears to the right of (new, open, save, print etc) (there is no option for tools)

    When I click on 'open' it brings me back to 'my documents' where the documents do not exist as they have been deleted.

    Each of the 'titles' listed in the recent documents list have little thumbtacks beside them which say 'pin this document to the recent documents list' but there is no way to unpin.

    This is driving me mad all day!

    Bingo!

    Office Home Button > Word Options > Advanced > Display > Show this number of Recent Documents (default 17) change to zero > OK.


    Happy now!
