Missed my signing day, problem?

I went in to collect my dole at the post office today and was told there was nothing there for me. He didn't know why and told me I'd have to contact them.

I suspect it's because I've missed my signing day, as it seems to be around 4 weeks or so since I last signed on (this would be only my second time). Now the thing is, when I went in the last (and first) time they took down my mobile number and specifically told me that I would be texted a few days prior to my sign date. I categorically did not receive this text. My dole slip has also said "N/A" for next signing date for several weeks now.

    Will this be an issue?

It could be. Did you call the Welfare office?

Well I only found out at around 4pm today so figured I'd have to call them, or call into them tomorrow.

It was stupid of me to expect them to do something as simple as text me, as they had assured me they would do.

You will need to go to the SW office and explain what happened. They will release the monies to the Post Office again and that usually takes a few days. Going from what has been posted in this forum, it said N/A for sign-on dates on Post Office payment receipts for thousands of people recently and caused a lot of confusion. There used to be written notices posted up on sign-on days giving the next date and, if still used, they are the most reliable source so take a note of those. People sometimes get texts giving the wrong dates!

Go into them ASAP. And you will get a double week on Monday. When in there make sure they tick beside your mobile number on the computer, so next time you will receive the text message.

They did tell me the date when I was in there and I was going to write it down until she told me they would text me. She got me to confirm my number and everything.

A double week on Monday isn't much good as I had stuff I'd budgeted for this week but I suppose there's nothing to be done. I'll go in tomorrow and hopefully one of the useless mouth breathers behind the glass can do their job. There's some irony in filling a load of positions with incompetent workers and then getting them to deal with people desperately looking for a job

    Thanks for the replies folks.

Just spent the best part of an hour phoning them, finally got through to somebody, explained my situation, he said he'd put me through to Current Claims, waited on the phone for 15 minutes before having to hang up.

I guess I'll go in tomorrow...
