Hi, the last few days i've been trying to order a little tikes playground as a present for my son. Nowhere in Ireland seem to do the one i'm looking for though (bricks & mortar or online). I'm aware that toysrus.co.uk have a delivery service to southern Ireland (aka ROI) but this particular item (or pretty much all playgrounds on their site) cannot be delivered to Northern Ireland or Southern Ireland for some reason (weight possibly?)

I thought well maybe i can get a lift up north to their shop in newry but the item can't be bought in-store so that's a double blow :(. We'd really like to order this and have looked elsewhere but it's much more expensive everywhere else online.

Just wondering does anyone know of a service that would be able to take delivery of the playground (mainland uk postcode) and bring it over to dublin? And if so whats the cheapest way of doing it. We're not in a rush to have it delivered could wait up to two months for that. Obviously parcel motel are up the north so that's out of the question and the parcel would be quite heavy (50-70kg or thereabouts).

I suppose i'm looking for some sort of courier service but i'm not too sure where to look next to be honest, can anyone help?

I have just had a look at that and its VERY big. As far as I can see one version is 75kg, and the other is 120 kg. Boxes at least 3 foot long and only shipped direct from the manufacturer.

They are to big for normal delivery so will have to be shipped by van or on a pallet.

Do you have any friends who live in the UK who will accept the delivery and then stick it in a van or on a pallet for you?

Just did a check with transland.ie.

They will ship collect a pallet from liverpool and deliver it to dublin for about 100 euro.

You will still need someone in the UK to accept the delivery and stick it on a pallet.

If you go to the biker forums, there are van guys collecting bikes in the uk and bringing them into Ireland. Maybe one would collect the boxes on their next trip over? Worth a try maybe?

I would contact the manufacturer too. As superscouse said it is coming straight from them anyway. The courier they use might well send here too, and toysrus just want to cling onto this "free delivery" thing. Or the manufacturer should know of another seller you could get it from.

If you turned the clock back 14 years, you'd be able to collect it from their factory in Clonsaugh, Dublin 5.

Another option, if you have the ability to transport it locally, is to contact one of the bigger freight companies and get a delivery to their depot in the UK and collect from warehouse in Ireland. this saves the local delivery & collection charge and you should get a quote for about €60-€80.

Try Johnston logistics in Rathcoole or DSV in Naas. -
