Transfer from Arts to a different course in Second Year

    Hi there,

With regards the the title above, I received my Leaving Cert results last week but I didn't get my first choice due to a jump in points for that course (Commerce) but I was offered my second choice, Arts in NUIG. I just want to know if there is a way I can transfer from Arts to Commerce in second year? (Of course, there's obviously specific results needed in first year modules, just like other colleges.)

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

    Cheers.

I doubt there is a way of doing that. They're two different faculties. Maybe there is though!

If you want to do Arts this year, pick, for example, economics and maths for your three years. I know a guy who did these two and is doing well in the Dept of Finance at the moment (that is, if anyone working in there could be considered to be "doing well"...)

I understand what you're saying. I know every college has it's own way of doing things but a friend of mine did first year Arts in NUIM and transferred to Business and Management for second ear. Not 100% sure how faculties and things set up there so that could why he could do that. It's a completely different scenario of course but I can enquire at orientation week, thought I'd ask here all the same.

    Cheers!

Ring the Arts faculty office, or send a quick e-mail.
