I picked this 2002 Heritage H157 on Adverts for a great price earlier in the month. I didn't need (or deserve) it at all but I'd been curious about them for a long time so I thought why not.

I wasn't sure about the date of production but I imagined it would be around 10 years old from the wear and tarnishing of the hardware - I was correct on that. It needed a good clean, the frets especially, but I've now got it set up perfectly for my tastes.

It has Schaller pickups, which some people don't like at all, but I think they're great. It weighs about 10lbs but I don't really notice it strangely. I don't buy into the weight equals tone thing either but I think it's great as is anyway.

    Here are some pictures.

But three-ply on the front and back:

Not a single comment?! A sign of the times, I think.

Absolute beauty, played one when I was over in Florida a few months ago and it killed me to put it back down.

This place is dead nowadays, certainly dead enough to not talk about pieces of art like this.

Very nice! I'd love a heritage but no space for extra guitars... and not really playing much these days to be honest. Still it's a beauty!

    Very nice guitar.

I miss Voodoo_Child and his Ibanez J-customs a lot from the good old days.

Certain Mods certainly don't encourage participation......

It's kind of odd. At first I thought it was a replacement but then I found pictures of others with the same time, although now I'm struggling to find them. The saddles are mounted on screws so a twist will change the string spacing. I took the bridge and tailpiece off and they had 'Made in Germany' printed on them so my guess is that they're Schaller-made, like the pickups.

There was a J-Custom craze here in 2007 or 2008. Funny how time flies. Bacchus were also all the rage then.

Moderation isn't really an issue here anymore beyond spam bots and first-time posters trying to sell stuff.

It's just the photo! The action is actually quite low.

My G&L ASAT Junior II has a Tonepros locking bridge and tailpiece. It's good stuff. My favourite guitar in term of all-round playability.

Doctor J was Bacchus' biggest salesman at one point there alright.

I'd still fancy a Bacchus handmade five string if I ever had a lotto win.

I've got a nickel tonepros bridge on my Les Paul Jr. I never had any issues with it and it was a direct fit. I got it because it had the allen screws to stop the bridge dropping on the posts.
