    Hi,
At lunchtime I sometimes do a 8km run, takes about 34 minutes.

What’s the best advice for eating beforehand and (more importantly) eating afterwards?

I’ve read that it’s best to wait at least 1 hour, 1.5 hours, even read that it doesn’t matter. Drink milk rather than water immediately after running and eating chicken afterwards is good I've read too.
    What's best advice?

Also is there any food that’s good to eat before my run and how long before the run?

    Cheers,
    Pa.

Definitive answer: whatever suits yourself and your stomach.

My stomach can only handle porridge before a run, otherwise I need about 3 hours until I can run without stomach problems.

I run most lunch-times and wouldn't consider eating a meal beforehand. I would make sure that I was well-hydrated and if I'm doing a long run or session, then I would eat some food (fruit/snack) an hour before I head out (but only before a hard session). Snacks: Belvita breakfast biscuits, crackers, breadsticks, banana, apple, brown bread, that kind of thing.

After your run, aim for a well-balanced meal. Your protein needs shouldn't be too great after a five mile run, so just stick with healthy well balanced food. Nothing wrong with water after a run. Don't think I could drink milk immediately after finishing a run.
