Watch for less than €80?

I am appealing to your expertise on a gift for himself. Being a broke student I do not have much to spend but if you have any recommendations I would appreciate it!
He is in his early 30s and has a gra for watches but doesn't own anything dressy (I got him a g shock for Christmas as a day to day wear watch)
I think he would prefer a leather strap, but any cool metal strapped ones would also suit.
I would also consider buying a second hand watch in good nick if this helps with my teeny budget!

Parnis watches are a catch all brand that originate from China. They are basically assembled there by various, separate, sellers and the quality can vary accordingly. However, they can also be a steal if you get a good example - it depends a lot on buying from the right source.

"Creation Watches" are a source for Orient watches which are very high quality, well regarded pieces (same owner as Seiko in Japan); they are usually "automatic" watches so have a cachet for that reason (among watch aficionados).

You can get a nice Russian watch on ebay for relatively little money. They are really nice and the Cyrillic is a cool talking point

I'd probably be a wee bit wary of buying those, though the orient watch posted looks great. I would be afraid to buy something that turned out to be bad quality through my own ignorance of the subject! Maybe a more mainstream brand is safer for me?

Orient is as main stream as Seiko - just not over here! Definitely don't be put off by not having heard of it before

If you're looking for something a bit different, try checking eBay and the likes for "binary watch"; you'll see some weird & whacky options!

I would be very favourably inclined towards fellow forum posters mind!
Newer Nookas have plastic cases and straps and are cheaper (my own was around 240 new I think), you could find one of those on sale within your price range.

Tokyo Flash is a great source for the more inspired forms of wrist time telling...

I bought the 4th one from my brother as a birthday present a some time ago. The strap is surprisingly high quality. Also he really like the watch. A bit more classy than you average quartz-plastic Casio.

I quite like the second watch, if someone were in a position to refine the design slightly it could be a real winner. It'd need to lose the awful Swarovski crystals though.

I was surprised to see the 'really great deal' comment - esp. as a 10 sec G-search found the same item cheaper.

We're quite price/value conscious here on W&T......and we've had posters with a low post count promoting watches, shops and jewellers before (even recently).

So, you'll understand where my comment was coming from.

I think its brilliant to be price value consious but your reaction can actually deter people from trying to help others. Well done on the ten second search. Did you manage to find a better value price watch for the person or do you normally just do the google search to rule out other peoples suggestions?
