hey, i'm booked into a hotel on friday nite in donegal and wanted the saturday nite also, but the hotel told me they were completley booked out so we just took the friday nite and are keeping fingers crossed for sat nite (won nites away on late late show). but while checking online websites for booking hotels (we were gona book into another hotel in same location for 2nd nite) there was always an availability for rooms in the hotel we're staying in. when i questioned the girl this morning about it she informed me that she has sold all the rooms that she is allocated and that there are some available with a few websites, i asked her what if i booked the room on line would i b able to get my free nite that way and she said prob not......feeling very frustrated as we dont get away too often, any thing i can do?????

Not much you can do I'm afraid. Their would be a certain number of rooms allocated for all types of vouchers & grabone deals etc and once they are used, then it will be Rack-Rate from then on. On very busy nights and particularly on week-ends you'd be very lucky to even get a Friday for the above deals.

You're at the mercy of the Management with this & If they are very busy (Assume they will be); they may offer you a 'reduced Rack-Rate' to keep your business and custom another night, but they would be under no obligation to do so.

Have you spoke with Management on this?

    Enjoy your Break Away though,

Unfortunately the way the online deals work is that the hotels sell the websites the rooms at X rate. The website then owns the booking & the hotel has nothing more to do with it. The website then sells the room on to you for whatever price you want to pay for it. If you have a voucher, it came directly from the hotel in return for a free plug on the Late Late. If you want to redeem it, it has to be done with the the hotel directly.

If you buy a room online, the hotel can't give it to you for free via the voucher, as the booking is no longer theirs to negotiate the rates of. What you pay for the room is between you and the website, as they are the vendor you are buying from now. It is not the hotel. You could of course ask the manager to help you out in the interests of good customer service, but he is under no obligation to do so. Seeing as its on a Saturday night & their busiest night of the week, its unlikely he will. Sorry.
