The drain is probably blocked somewhere, common enough VW problem.

Pollen filter seal on the passenger side or blocked drain holes under the battery,
or a combination of both. Very common problem, you are best sort it before it
floods the convenience control module under the passenger seat.

The drain is blocked under the scuttle panel in where your battery is and the water builds up and comes in around the pollen filter.

You need to dry out the carpet and underlay asap especially the passenger side because there is a lot of wiring and modules in there that cause a lot of trouble if they get corroded.

You will also need to replace your pollen filter and maybe seal up the pollen filter housing.
