    Hi,

I have a freeview/saorview box hooked up to a dish outside for uk freeview. I have adjusted the dish so its receiving the strongest signal. However I cannot get Food Network, or the +1.

I did have them before, so I retuned the receiver, found Food Newtwork but, alas, no signal!

Can anyone give me some advice on how to get it back?

I am using an Ariva Combi box with a 60cm dish.

    Thanks

Do you have the other channels on that transponder such as the 3 Showcase channels CBS Reality and Information TV?

What were you using for a meter when you were adjusting the dish?

Cannot get showcase, CBS Reality and Information TV now that you mention it. I was using an basic audio meter to adjust the dish.

Are any other channels missing? The ones you list above are on the Eutelsat satellite - http://en.kingofsat.net/pos-28.2E.php

You may have moved the dish slightly out of alignment for this satellite/transponder and audio meters aren't the most accurate for doing this. Is there a signal strength/quality meter on the satellite receiver that you can use to realign the dish, you may need someone with a mobile phone or a good pair of lungs to watch the meter while you move the dish.

I use one of these meters - http://www.emitor.se/prod_digisat_pro.htm

OP presumably it is Freesat and not Freeview you mean? On that basis moving to satellite.

Food Network is one of the few channels still on Eutelsat. If you are having similar issues with True Movies or CBS Reality, I would suspect that your dish has moved slightly out of alignment, especially after the high winds we had lately.

Signal quality & picture quality are not the same thing with a digital system. You can have quite poor signal quality without any effect on the picture. Poor picture quality is usually down to too-low bitrate, when too many services are crammed onto a transponder.
