EVGA GTX 760 SC ACX Coil Whine

I have just bought an EVGA GTX 760 and it has a bit of a coil whine when under load,anything I can do?

Not really my Evga 770 has coil whine under load too. It's not loud and when it's under load I'm gaming so even if my speakers are set to low I can't hear the coil whine over it.

If it really bothers you, you can send the card back under the distance selling act. You have 7 days after receiving the item to send it back for a refund.

Amazon will honour that to 14 days, as will HWVS AFAIK. If it bothers you I'd return it before you regrets your decision to keep it.

Sometimes capping the frame rate can reduce the whine, maybe try setting the framerate target in EVGA precision to 60 or 120 (whatever max hz of your monitor is).

Some cards have a tendency to whine when pushed hard. You could try RMA'ing it, EVGA have great after sales.

Edit: Re-read above, Gumbi's spot on, if it its within the cooling off period, return it & order another one.

Thank's lads,after some heavy gameplay last night the whine seems to have gone.

I've read about a "burn in" helping with coil whine. I don't know why that would be the case though.

I had coil whine on both of my hd7970's but after using them for gaming it quickly disappeared also

I developed it on my 7970 and it never went away :mad:

My 7970 only does it on 3dmarks first bench where it's rendering several hundred frames per second. I assume it's the card anyway. Outside of that it's fine.
