Well just sat down here and worked out that my van will cost me at least €950:mad: to run until the end of the year without adding in diesal. Van would get max €1200 at the moment. Thinking of getting rid and using proceeds to buy car what do you think? Any ideas?

How much would you spending on a newer one and how long would you be keeping it?
They'd be the questions I'd be asking myself.

Sure thats nothing, I spend that just running my car for a couple of months, not even counting insurance or tax

On any car your going to have tax insurance replace tyres, service it etc.
    those are normal running costs.

How come its not on commercial tax of it needs a doe?

I thought you were going say it needed 900 quid worth of parts etc.

A car will cost money too, purchase and upkeep.
Choose a couple and see what they will cost you over a certain time.
    Then decide.

Was thinking about this, maybe a smaller engine and tested till sometime nxt year, would save a bit on the tax and not have to fork out money on test and repairs so close to xmas.
