Online Test Booking Mishap

I'm in a real pickle here, and I'm hoping one of you can help.

Yesterday, I was attempting to book my driving test online. I had completed the payment section of the application and had moved on to the scheduling section, where I clicked on the option of "what to do if none of the available times suit you". I was then brought to a screen with two options, one being to allow the RSA to book my test date for me and the other to be put on the cancellations list. I then left this tab on my browser to look for more information on what to do. A few minutes later, I returned to the tab to be told that my session had timed out, but not to worry because my test had been paid for and the RSA would contact me with my test date at a later time!

First of all, how are they allowed to do that? I hadn't even reached the confirmation of booking stage! Why is the payment stage even before the scheduling stage anyway?

Secondly, how do I find out what my current situation is with regard to the test? I sent an email to DrivingTest@rsa.ie, but all I got was a useless automated response about common queries. I'd like to know what I should do, but I can't find any helpful information. Should I just cancel the test application? What happens to my fee if I do so?

I highly appreciate any information that you could give about this matter. Thanks in advance!

Of course. I wasn't able to contact them today this morning through to the afternoon though and according to the help section on their website, their call service ends at half 4.

That's why I came here, to see if anyone else had encountered this issue and/or knew what to do.

I'm sure it's not a big issue. You won't have been the first! I'd just call them in the morning and let them sort it out. Sometimes 'computer says no'. That's when a bit of human interaction gets things sorted out.

Thanks. I'm just a little frazzled at the moment as I'm going to be running a rather tight schedule soon enough and I'd rather this didn't interfere. I'll call them in the morning.

Yes ring them as it takes 6 to 8 weeks to schedule a test
