PVC cover boards on timber fascia?

I'd really appreciate some opinions please... I have just had a couple of lengths of rotted wooden fascia board and end box replaced with new timber. Rather than painting these I am considering having them covered with PVC cover boards. It's only a small section so shouldn't cost much, but now I'm wondering if I should have all of the timber fascias covered to prevent future rot. From a very rough calculation I reckon this would cost several hundred euros (3 bed semi with 1 storey side extension).
Has anyone had this done? Do you think it was worth the money, and did turn out well aesthetically? Thanks in advance!
