i got my car cleaned yesterday in a valet and when i picked it up the tyres were incredibly shinny, i asked the chap what he used on the tryes and he said that it was a silicone based solution, so just wondering if anyone knows where i can but this stuff? when i was there i say hem putting it on a car but it was in a 2lt half cut open milk container and they applied it with a paint brush. I have tried all the tire sprays but none of them are as effective as this stuff?

Best I've used is Meguiars Endurance gel.

To be honest though - if its been slapped on with a paint brush, I'd expect your doors, wings and quarter panels will be splattered with it at this stage.

Yeah the Meguiars stuff is class.

Although I've never used any other product, so there could be better stuff out there..

Id say the tyre shine he was using was something like Autoglym's or Auto Smart's trade version of tyre shine. Buy it in bulk and then as you pointed out, pour it into a container thats easy to get a brush onto it.

As mentioned above, if it wasnt buffed down with cloth, I'd say a lot of it is up the side of your car....as most of them suffer for a lot of sling. And if you are looking for that really, really wet look, you'll probably suffer that a lot with any product.

Im not really a fan of the really wet look, so if Im using a similar product, I'll apply it the same way, but once Ive applied it to all the wheels, I'll go back around and give them a good rub down with a dry cloth. Leaves a nice dark finish without too much sling.

Orchard Autocare's Glitz Tyre Dressing claims to get a nice dark finish (not really wet looking) with no sling and excellent durability - though I've not got around to trying it out yet!

Anyone try the foam from AutoGylm - its amazing, just spray it on and it dissolves into the tyre.

I've used that as well. They do another spray on product, called Instant Tyre Dressing. Its even better than the foaming stuff.
Leaves your tyres a very dark black, and lasts for weeks.

yeah I might try that as my can of foam has run out.

I think the effectiveness of the dressing depends on the tyre itself too. I'm almost certain that the Meguiars gel lasted way longer on my Good Year F1s compared to my current Kumhos. Sheen seems to be gone from the Kumhos after only 3-4 days.

Michelin's are extremely difficult to keep tyre dressing on also, particularly the Pilot Sports...most of the side wall is smooth!

That's the problem with the foam. Good as it is, the can empties very quickly.
You get loads of goes from the Instant stuff.

At the moment I'm using the €1.49 tyre dressing out of dealz, for anyone that hasn't tried it, don't, it is rubbish. Kind of figured it would be at the price, but I took a gamble. Mostly I use Poorboy's World Trim Restorer, it's ok but it isn't a dedicated tyre dressing. I am only using it as I found it as a trim dressing it was not much good so use it on the tyres. To be fair to the Poorboy's I never used to de-grease the trim so it never got a chance to impress me. I opted for Gtechniq C4 quickly afterwards.

When my Poorboy's run out I think I am going to go for either Orchard Autocare's Glitz or Gtechniq T1. Kinda leaning towards the T1 though as it comes up often on DW as a good lasting dressing.

In relation to the Autoglym Foam dressing, I have tried the Lidl foam tyre dressing they do from time to time, and I quite like it. It is perfect for a quick wash and spruce up, or during the cold weather when you don't fancy applying liquid dressing, handy product to have.

Glitz is a very new product....and it will struggle to get a name for itself in the UK as the shipping is a bit of a killer unless the person is planning on buying a few Orchard items.

If you go to the Orchard section on DW, you'll read nothing but good about the product! ;)

Used the Autoglym tyre spray a couple of days ago. Gives the tyres a nice new look rather than a shine. Can't comment on its longevity yet though
