I recall seeing this somewhere before, but can't find it.

Does anyone know how PAYE taxes are broken down (as in how they're divided up)?

    E.G.
    SW 6%
    Education 3%
    Emergency services 2.3%

    Thanks

If you saw it somewhere before I'd say it was made up, or you misunderstood what you were reading.

What do you mean by PAYE taxes? Just the income tax paid by PAYE taxpayers, or all income tax? Does it include USC, and PRSI?

In any case taxes on income are just one source of revenue to the state, there's also VAT, CGT, stamp duty, excise, corporation tax etc...

Most of the money raised goes into central funds (think the main joint bank account for a household with a few different incomes), and the costs of running the state are paid from there.

Add in the fact that for the last several years these outgoings actually substantially exceed our income, the answer to your question would add to more than 100%.

Yeah, I know they're central fund, but this was a pie chart of how your "average" takes are spent (in some cases squandered).

It took €150 as the notational amount & then broke it down to the areas where the money was spent by department.

I don't think it made an allowance for state borrowings to supplement taxes, just "where your money goes".

Actually thinking about it, where your money goes would give me the same result (almost). Is there a percentage breakdown of government spending online?
