To implant or not to implant, that is the question

    Hi guys,

This post will be 50% dental advice/50% financial advice, so bear with me.

I'm due a few major dental procedures. The most pressing is the replacement of a large composite filling with a crown; and I need at least one implant, possibly two (if a crown on a broken tooth isn't feasible).

I'm a patient at <snip> on O'Connell St, and generally, I've been very happy with their work.

Unfortunately, money is a factor. My guess is that I'm looking at as much as €3,000-€4,500 to sort everything out, and I can't manage that out of my own wallet.

I'm considering a loan, but I'm not sure if I should borrow a smaller amount to get the crown fitted; or a larger amount to do everything. The other two teeth are pretty much -- as much as it horrifies me to type it -- rotten, painless stumps (mostly invisible, thank the gods), so they're not a huge priority. But is it worth it, do you think, to get it all out of the way now, lest those "dead" teeth cause a world of pain in the future, or focus on the healthier tooth and lessen the burden in the short-term?

In terms of my own financial security, I can't imagine there being any setbacks. That said, I'd welcome anyone who had any suggestions for more affordable dental practices, or dentists with kinder dental plans.

    Many thanks in advance! :)

Only you can answer regarding your financial situation, the only real advice I can give is to follow your dentists advice and make sure the dental work is the best quality you can get. A bad job is worse than no job at all as your left with problems and no money.

As for implants, I wouldn't necessary make a chain dental clinic my first port of call.
