    Hi any advice on which of the above cars is the most reliable? better MPG? Nicer to drive? Just overall the better car? Both cars are 2007 with similar millage

    Haven't driven either but general consensus i've read is the Toyota would be more reliable while the Passat will be a more enjoyable drive.

    The Toyota has a narrower power band but is quicker overall if you work hard enough I'd still rather the passat engine as its more flexible.

    They're both pretty humdrum to drive, but that's to be expected.

    Interior of passat is nicer.

    Tough call.

    The Passat is a nicer car but the Avensis is more reliable. I'd take my chances with the Passat personally.

    Those avensis's arent as reliable as the 02 model

    The 02 ones aren't particularly great between flywheels and injectors and heavy clutches

    Have one of each parked outside my place, I marginally prefer the Avensis, for the simple reason that I have a bad back and the Avensis seat is a lot more comfortable for me, the Passat is a slightly nicer drive but then that is my opinion, others prefer the Avensis, reliability and mpg are as similar as makes no difference and both are pretty boring to drive as has been said, I would test drive both and pick the one that feels most right.
