The Dublin stop was planned (originally it was to go to MAN but this was then changed).

Pity it wasnt an 800,the Lufthansa website says they use it on the Mexico City run.

Anyone know if it diverted for a crew change?

Currently this route is served by the 747-400. Presumably this will change as more 747-8s are added to the LH fleet.

I can confirm the diversion was due to crew rest limitations which necessitated a full crew change in Dublin.

If Boeing were never to build another aircraft, the 747 surely must rank at the very top of any list of Impressive Things to Watch !! :)

i have to say the 800I is a good looking aircraft, much nicer lines then the A380. the 748 seems to be doing okay as a cargo plane, i know it hasnt sold well as a pax aircraft. wonder how long it will be built for?

Was out hiking today and was convinced I saw a 747 flying east low over greystones. Nothing on FR24 though so couldn't figure it out.

It did route east over the Greystones area on its approach to Dublin. It was visible on FR24, though.
