Guys I hear many differences about English and German pointers. Can I ask any of the guys who have experience of both which they rate higher as pheasant dogs.
I know it can be down to ones own experience with a good or bad dog but I imaging some guys out there will have seen the good in both and can rate them.

    Cheers

No one can say which is better because they do the same job and with Gud breeding both can be at the top level of there profession !

Go with what you like , I love the English pointers , but I've a lab for retrieving ducks , I'd rate the Germans better in water over all as a breed ! But that don't mean that you won't get an English that a serious dog in water .

It like everything spend some time with them learn how to train them !

    U GET OUT ! WHAT U PUT IN !!

A gundog reflects on what it was trained.
Ep and gp are bred for hunting but doesn't mean that it'll immediately hunt and point.
If they're trained proper then both can be equal. It's all to do with training.

IMO its all down to the owner and I'm not expert but a dogs work reflects on its owner and the work put into them.

if you are really in the dark about the 2 breeds google them and watch videos on youtube if you dont know anyone with the two breeds to compare.i was in the same boat 2 years ago i went for the german but that was just my prefrence now iv 3 of them.they are a great dog on land and just as good in water.i read they are 2nd only to the lab of been the best over all gundog http://adventure.howstuffworks.com/outdoor-activities/hunting/traditional-methods/5-hunting-dog-breeds.htm#page=11.id go for a pup if you are getting one so you can train to your standard.because if you get an adult with a bad trate you will spend an age to get him right.best of look in your purchase.
