    Hi all,

I want to take up running, I'm a beginner and am looking for other beginners to start training with. Just for something to do and to keep fit!

I'd love to meet new friends through exercising!

I'm female, 27 and live in Kilkenny city.

Please let me know if your interested. Thanks

    Try your local running club.

Maybe set up something like a "Kilkenny Couch 2 5K" running group or something similar on Facebook.

I'm about 18 months ahead of you at this stage and now training for my first marathon but would have loved something like that when I started.

Kilkenny fit for life at kilkenny city harriers. See here. Think there might be a waiting list to join though.

Last I heard there is a waiting list for fit4life in kilkenny harriers for women, but not for men.

I think the watershed have a running group of sorts but it likely costs a bit more I'd imagine then the fit4life.

It's worth checking about the waiting list to be sure though,

Alternatives if you have a car is there are running groups in Stoneyford, gowran and thomastown as well.

Why would there be a waiting list for Fit4Life? surely you just show up, join and take part? The more the merrier I would have thought.

No idea why such a waiting list exists but Harriers website clearly says one does exist

Beginner runners need a fair amount of supervision. Eg, you go out for a group run and half a mile in there are people who can't keep up, might get lost, and will be discouraged from coming back again, unless someone drops back to keep them company.
