Best route from Rathmines to Cookstown, Tallaght

Hi

I am moving to rathmines next week and also starting a fas course in cookstown out near tallaght soon.

I can walk 30 minutes to nearest luas stop or I can get the bus. Which would be quickest process and also which bus would I get? Thanks

Two options:
65 bus (limited service) would take you directly from Rathmines to Tallaght from where you can either:
1) Walk about 20 minutes to Cookstown from the Belgard Road (stop after IT Tallaght);or
2) Take the LUAS from Tallaght to Cookstown

For outbound trip, allow about 10 minutes to get to Rathmines, and 25 minutes to Tallaght.

For inbound trip, allow about 25 minutes for the bus to get from Blessington to Tallaght or 35 minutes for those departures from Ballymore or Ballyknockan.

65 will be fastest.

Depending on where in Rathmines, route 49 or 54a through Harold's Cross (they only use the same stops north of Harold's Cross Green), might be an option.

I would be disinclined to use the 65b, as you would need a connecting bus.
