    Whats the views on these?
Personally I can't see how they can clean your car without doing some damage to your paint but maybe I am wrong.

Reason I ask is my son is now Staying in Dublin and is anxious to keep his car clean but does not want to be throwing money at petrol pump washes.

Car washes aren't that expensive like

I saw the thread then saw the poster and I was all like "Oooooookkkkk"

vectra, you know better than to ask questions like that!!

Colm, it's more to do with the type of car wash that he's worried about. Vectra spent hours D/Aing his son's vRS and most car washes in Dublin will damage the finish.

My advice is for him to get it done in Elite Auto Clean if he can.

Not really. plenty of places have just a standard powerwash rather than the drive thru yokes. Bring his own buckets, mitt and whatever and just use the powerwasher to rinse it. It'd be a few quid, but if he actually wants to keep the car well then it wont bother him.

Getting the car cleaned regularly by a detailing/valeting place is nothing short of retarded by comparison, particularly with regards to wasting money

I bought a bottle of optimum no rinse last week, have only used it one but I can honestly say it works. Washed the car with a spray bottle at quick detail strength used as a presoak, one bucket and a sponge, no hose and no rinsing, just dry straight after washing. I was well impressed with the results. It can also be used bucketless with just a spray bottle and micro fiber cloths. There's an extensive tutorial on how the use it over on detail world in the eco wash section, I'm on the phone so can't post a link.

In my view most forecourt washes, be it brush or just power washer contain TFR which is a big no no for me.

I think he will pass on the waterless wash and just put up with the car being dirty until he gets home.

    Thanks for the replies.

Probably the most sensible option.... although he could surely fit a carwash in his/your boot :pac:

alot of fourcourt washs can be controled so that u can use just the rinse cycle by useing this u can use your own soap use your own buckets and washmitt and by filling the buckets from the rinse cycle aswell it'll cost about 3 euro if he finds one that he can put in euro coins in my eyes this is the best/only way he can keep his car clean but still keep the protection and perfect paintwork anyway just my 2 cents :P

Best waiting until he gets the car home! :p

At a very stretch Id say use a jet wash...foam the car, use your own mitts and rinse, pull the car out and dry it. But as you say, all those washes use TFR, so any protection that was on the car will have to a certain degree been stripped. A spray top up sealant will get the car from wash to wash, until the car can be given a re-top up of protection!

Think of that scene in Texas chainsaw massacre where leatherface is dancing with the chainsaw. That's what vectra was doing as his son pulled up to the house :D

He sure did get a place with running water but I am not sure how the neighbours would see it.

I honestly couldn't see any issue. Neighbours might start asking for their car to get washed. He's going to be in college anyway, he'll be busy with other things.
